About the Competition
"Roll In The City" 1st Stop is an open mic competition designed to give talented individuals an opportunity to showcase their abilities before a live audience. The competition takes place each Saturday night at 8pm at Creative Force Studios (located at 3209 Gresham Lake Road . Suite 160 . Raleigh, NC 27615). Each contestant is given 3 to 5 minutes to wow the crowd. The performance is recorded by one of Creative Force Studios' professional videographers and then uploaded to the Creative Force Studios YouTube Channel where viewers will have the opportunity to vote on the performer they would like to see advance to the next round. Performers deemed by judges to be "ready" for the big stage will be announced every 4 weeks and that individual will appear during "Roll In The City's" televised segment of the Battle of the Band series as a wildcard performer. The winner of the Battle of the Band series will receive a music video produced by Creative Force Studios.
Rules
Every act who participates during the "Roll In The City" 1st Stop open mic event will be judged on the following criteria: 1)Performance - to include stage presence and entertainment value. 2)Professionalism 3)Crowd participation and interaction 4)Attendance and crowd support 5)Originality 6)Votes acquired through the number of views received via YouTube Channel.
Although talent is certainly a must for contenders vying to stay in the competition, judges are looking for individuals that possess the complete package. Votes alone will not ensure contestants a spot on Battle of the Band. Therefore it is necessary that contestants continue to come out each and every weekend to maintain crowd support and prove to voters that they have what it takes to become a superstar.
Each act must be at least 18 years old to participate, or have a parent or legal guardian present during the 1st Stop events.
Each act must sign a talent release form prior to taking center stage.
Contestants must bring accompaniment track on a CD for playback during the performance. It is not the responsibility of Creative Force Studios, Roll in the City nor their employees to burn music to a CD on behalf of the performer.
Each act understands that their likeness may or may not be used within various mediums, including but not limited to, videos, commercials, television,websites, highlight reels, print media, radios ads etc., to promote the "Roll in the City" 1st Stop event or any Creative Force Studios' production. Each performer also understands that no remuneration will be allotted for the use of said images.
"Roll in the City" 1st Stop is a family friendly event, and as such, the use of crass language and gratuitous profanity will not be tolerated. Any contestant whose material contains the aftorementioned language will be eliminated from the competition, and their video will not be posted to the Creative Force Studios YouTube site for consideration during the voting process.
Each contestant is encouraged to continue using the "Roll in the City" 1st Stop event as the forum to perfect their craft. Because wildcard contestants for the Battle of the Band series will be selected every 4 weeks, participants may continue to enter the competition as often as they would like.
There is NO cost to perform during the open-mic portion of the event; however, EVERY person is required to pay a $5 cover charge at the door. The $5.00 cover charge helps Creative Force Studios continue to provide the venue for the "Roll in the City" 1st Stop event.
Absolutely NO outside photography or videography is allowed on the Creative Force Studios premises. Acts desirous of receiving their performance videos may embed the YouTube link provided on the Creative Force Studios Channel.
The Judges
Judges are comprised of indusry professionals, promoters, venue owners as well as other industry experienced Creative Force Studios media partners throughout the United States. Therefore judges may or may not always be in attedance of the 1st Stop event, but will make their deliberations based on footage gathered during the night's performances. It is HIGHLY SUGGESTED that each contestant be in attendance of the "Roll in the City" 1st Stop event for the duration of the competition.
Judges that are present during the event will offer professional critiques of contestants' performances and will offer constructive advice to help each act become better acquainted with the business end of "show business".
